อ้า…คุณกลายเป็นคนมีชื่อเสียงในไม่ช้า

ซึ่งกลายเป็นตำนาน

เป็นปรากฏการณ์ที่ยังตรึงตรา

คนที่เคยเป็นคนพเนจร

คุณพลัดหลงเข้ามาในอ้อมกอดของฉัน

และคุณก็อยู่กับฉัน

เคว้งคว้างเหมือนอยู่ในทะเลอยู่ชั่วขณะหนึ่ง

พระแม่มารีคือผู้หญิงของคุณที่ไม่ต้องเสียเงิน

ใช่ ผู้หญิงที่อยู่ในฝาหอยครึ่งหนึ่ง (Venus)

เก็บรักษาคุณไว้ไม่ให้เป็นอันตราย

Now I see you standing
With brown leaves falling around
And snow in your hair
Now you're smiling out the window
Of that crummy hotel
Over Washington Square
Our breath comes out white clouds
Mingles and hangs in the air
Speaking strictly for me
We both could have died then and there

ตอนนี้ฉันเห็นคุณกำลังยืนอยู่

พร้อมกับใบไม้สีน้ำตาลหล่นอยู่รอบๆ

และหิมะอยู่บนเส้นผมคุณ

ตอนนี้คุณกำลังยิ้มหันหน้าไปทางหน้าต่าง

ของโรงแรมซอมซ่อนั้น

ที่อยู่แถว Washington Square

ลมหายใจของเรากลายเป็นหมอกควันสีขาว

รวมผสมกันและลอยอยู่ในอากาศ

พูดตรงๆแล้วสำหรับฉัน

ตอนนั้นเราควรจะตายแล้วเสียตรงที่นั่น

You're not nostalgic (a sentimental yearning for the happiness felt in a former time)

Then give me another word for it
You who are so good with words
And at keeping things vague
Because I need some of that vagueness now
It's all come back too clearly
Yes I loved you dearly
And if you're offering me diamonds and rust
I've already paid

ตอนนี้คุณกำลังบอกฉันว่า

คุณไม่ได้คิดถึงความสุขในอดีต

และพูดกับฉันด้วยถ้อยคำใหม่

คุณเป็นคนที่เก่งในการสรรหาคำพูด

และเก่งในการพูดจากว้างๆไม่ตายตัว

เพราะว่าฉันต้องการคำที่มีความหมายกว้างๆนั้นตอนนี้

และคำเหล้านั้นกลับมาหาฉันอย่างแจ่มชัดมาก

ใช่ ฉันรักคุณอย่างมาก

และถ้าคุณเสนอให้เพชรและสนิมแก่ฉัน

ฉันได้จ่ายเป็นค่าของนี้เรียบร้อยแล้ว

(ฉันได้ชดใช้ค่าของเหล่านี้เรียบร้อยแล้ว = ฉันได้ทนทุกข์มามากเพียงพอแล้ว)
